Pike County Sheriff’s Office issues suspect alert update

Pike County Sheriff’s Office issued a suspect alert update on its Facebook page, the office’s Public Relations Department said. The brief post — accompanied by the department’s hashtag, #ServiceBeforeSelf — directed the public to information about an ongoing law enforcement matter.

Sheriff’s offices typically use suspect alerts to quickly share information with residents, seek tips and enhance public safety. Such alerts often include descriptions, photographs or requests for witnesses, and they can prompt timely community responses that assist investigations.

The Pike County Sheriff’s Office, which is responsible for policing unincorporated areas of the county and supporting local public safety efforts, regularly posts updates through its public relations channels. Social media has become a common tool for law enforcement agencies to reach wide audiences and solicit information from the public.

Officials did not provide additional details in the initial post. Members of the public who have relevant information are encouraged to contact local law enforcement or call 911 in an emergency. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
