Pike County sheriff leads highway litter campaign
Pike County Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones continued a countywide litter campaign in 2026, removing trash along Highway 48 East and other state highways and county roads, the sheriff’s office said.
The Pike County Sheriff’s Office Public Relations Department said in a Facebook post that the effort reflects a commitment to keeping Pike County, Mississippi, clean, safe and attractive. The post thanked the Mississippi Department of Transportation and Commissioner Charles Busby for donating a cleanup truck to support the work.
The office also extended appreciation to Correctional Officer Kim Wallace and the inmates who led the cleanup effort, and to the McComb Rotary Club and Victor’s Tint & Graphics for providing vehicle decals, the post said.
The Pike County Sheriff’s Office is the chief law enforcement agency for Pike County. Community cleanup efforts like this often involve partnerships between local officials, corrections staff and civic groups. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
