Picayune police open applications for officers, community service officers

Picayune Police Department said in a Facebook post that it is accepting applications for police officer and community service officer positions.

The department said it has amended the job description to allow applicants ages 18-20 to apply for the community service officer role. The position is described as entry level, and the department said employees hired in that classification must graduate from the basic law enforcement training academy before turning 22.

Those 21 or older are asked to apply for the police officer position or for a community service officer volunteer role, according to the post. The department said more information is available on flyers attached to the post and that applications can be completed online at www.picayune.ms.us.

Picayune is a city in Pearl River County in southern Mississippi, and local police recruitment can provide a pathway to careers in public safety while helping departments maintain community staffing levels. Prospective applicants should review the materials posted by the department for eligibility and training requirements.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
