The Picayune Police Department said in a Facebook post that it hosted the March meeting of the South Mississippi Crime Meeting, bringing together law enforcement agencies from the region.
The department thanked First Baptist Church of Picayune for donating food for officers in attendance and acknowledged Bounds Feed, Seed and Garden Center, Picayune Industrial Tool and the City of Picayune for providing door prizes, the post said.
The department said the South Mississippi Crime Meeting is unique to the region, assembling federal, state, local and military agencies to discuss crime trends, share information and review training opportunities intended to strengthen public safety across South Mississippi.
The post invited organizations and businesses interested in sponsoring food or donating door prizes to contact the department via its Facebook page, and said it appreciates community support for the men and women who work daily to keep the area safe. Picayune is in Pearl River County, Mississippi.
