Picayune Police Department receives state accreditation
Picayune Police Department said in a Facebook post that it has received an accreditation certificate from the Mississippi Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission.
The department said the accreditation reflects a voluntary, independent evaluation showing it met professional standards in areas that include policy, training, operations, evidence handling, use of force, supervision and accountability.
In its post, the department credited the achievement to the “hard work of every officer, supervisor, and staff member,” noting the process involved long hours of policy review, documentation and inspections to ensure practices matched principles.
The Mississippi Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission is a state body that evaluates law enforcement agencies against established professional standards. Accreditation is widely regarded as a measure of an agency’s commitment to best practices and can help reinforce transparency and public confidence in policing.
The department said it will continue to train, remain accountable and serve with integrity, signing the post “Professional. Prepared. Accountable.” We will provide more information as it becomes available.
