Pearl River County holds spring household hazardous waste day Saturday

Pearl River County will hold its spring Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Day on Saturday, March 7, the county announced on its Facebook page. The event will run from 8 a.m. to noon at the Pearl River County Health Department in Carriere.

County officials urged residents to use the event to dispose of hazardous materials accumulated during spring cleaning and household projects. The Facebook post directed residents to a flier listing acceptable items for drop-off.

Household hazardous waste typically includes items such as paints, solvents, pesticides, batteries and certain cleaning products that can pose risks to people and the environment if disposed of improperly. Special collection events like this help prevent contamination of local water supplies and reduce the risk of accidental exposure in homes and landfills.

The Pearl River County Health Department is hosting the event to provide a safe, centralized way for residents to rid their homes of potentially dangerous substances. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
