Pascagoula PD shares warming center information
Pascagoula Police Department urged residents to share warming center information with people in need in a Facebook post, saying, “If you know someone who is in need of a warm shelter tonight, please pass this information along to them.”
Warming centers offer temporary shelter and warmth during cold weather and are typically operated by local governments, nonprofit organizations or faith-based groups. They provide a safe place for people who lack stable housing, are elderly, or otherwise vulnerable to dangerous temperatures.
The notice from Pascagoula PD underscores public safety concerns during cold snaps, when exposure can lead to serious health risks such as hypothermia. Local agencies often coordinate to open warming centers, provide transportation and share information through social media, community organizations and emergency services.
Residents who know someone in need are encouraged to pass along the department’s post and to contact local authorities or community organizations for assistance. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
