Oxford Police warn of possible winter weather, urge caution on roads
The Oxford Police Department said on its Facebook page that it has been monitoring the forecast and that there is a chance of winter weather ahead, urging residents to plan ahead and use extra caution if they must travel.
Winter precipitation such as snow or ice can quickly create hazardous driving conditions, reducing visibility and traction. Police and transportation officials commonly advise motorists to allow extra travel time, reduce speed, increase following distance and avoid unnecessary trips when roads are slick.
The department posted that it will keep the public updated as conditions develop. Social media has become a routine channel for many local agencies to share timely safety information and travel advisories with residents.
Drivers and residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts and emergency alerts, prepare vehicles and homes for colder conditions and follow official guidance. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
