Oxford police present Life-Saver awards to three officers
Oxford Police Department is honoring Captain Kevin Parker and officers Canaan Pearson and Ronnie Goudy with its Life-Saver Award for actions that helped preserve a person’s life, the department said in a Facebook post.
While responding to a wreck, Captain Kevin Parker discovered an unresponsive individual inside a vehicle, the department said. Without hesitation, he breached the vehicle and immediately began life-saving measures. Officers Pearson and Goudy quickly arrived to assist, and together they continued providing care until emergency medical services arrived and transported the individual for further treatment.
The department said the officers’ swift response, teamwork and commitment “exemplify the highest standards of this department and reflect our mission of serving with wisdom and compassion while fostering a safe and connected community.”
The Life-Saver Award recognizes on-duty actions that directly protect or preserve life. Many police agencies maintain similar awards to acknowledge emergency medical aid or rescue efforts by officers. The department posted the announcement on its Facebook page.
