Oxford Police Department welcomes criminal justice interns

The Oxford Police Department said on its Facebook page that it is welcoming a new group of criminal justice interns, calling the move an investment in the future of public safety.

The department did not provide names or numbers in the post, but said the interns are joining the “OPD family.” The announcement was posted on the department’s official Facebook account.

Criminal justice internships typically give students hands-on experience in policing, investigations, community engagement and departmental administration. Law enforcement agencies often use internships to help students apply academic learning to real-world public safety work and to explore career paths in the field.

Officials and community leaders have said internship programs can strengthen ties between police and residents, improve training pipelines and increase transparency, though specific goals for this cohort were not outlined by the department. The department did not provide additional details. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
