Organizers said in a Facebook post that residents can pick up bottled water and MREs — Meals Ready-to-Eat — today until supplies last at several Lafayette County and City of Oxford locations.
Officials asked residents to share the information with neighbors and to “please be patient and kind to the teams working the sites,” the post said.
Lafayette County pickup locations listed in the post include Harmontown SO Substation at 12 CR 517; Lafayette High School at 160 Commodore Dr.; Lafayette County Fire Station 3 at 22 CR 369; and Lafayette County Fire Station 6.
City of Oxford locations listed are CB Webb; Thacker at Garden Terrace; and Wayne Johnson, the post said. MREs are prepackaged, shelf-stable meals commonly distributed during emergencies or disruptions to normal food services.
Officials did not provide additional details about the cause of the distribution in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
