Ocean Springs officer named Jackson County First Responder of the Year

Officer Adam Carter of the Ocean Springs Police Department was named the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce’s inaugural First Responder of the Year, the department said in a Facebook post.

The chamber recently recognized police and fire nominees from across Jackson County during its first annual First Responder ceremony, the post said. The Ocean Springs department said Carter was honored for his dedication, professionalism and commitment to serving the community.

The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce is a local business organization that promotes economic development and community partnerships across the county, which is located on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Awards that recognize first responders aim to highlight public safety work that protects residents, businesses and visitors.

Ocean Springs police invited the public to join in congratulating Carter for the recognition. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
