Motor officers practice tactical firearm transitions

Motor officers from multiple agencies conducted motorcycle tactical firearms transition training, officials said. According to a Facebook reel, the session emphasized seamless weapon handling during dismounts, target engagement and maintaining situational awareness — skills described as critical for high-pressure encounters.

The training also served as the Quarterly Metro Interagency Motor Training and brought together motor officers from the Jackson Police Department (JPD), Flowood Police Department, Capitol Police and the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office. Interagency sessions like this allow agencies to share techniques and coordinate procedures across jurisdictions.

Motor units typically handle traffic enforcement, escorts, crowd control and high-speed response, and officers receive specialized training for operating motorcycles under stress. Regular firearms and tactical transition drills help ensure officers can move safely from vehicle operations to target engagement while preserving public safety and officer safety.

Officials said collaborative training strengthens coordination and readiness among motor officers. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
