Mississippi issues Silver Alert for missing 79-year-old Horn Lake man

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation issued a Silver Alert Tuesday for 79-year-old William Leon Decker of Horn Lake after he was reported missing Monday evening, officials said. Decker was last seen March 16 at about 4:18 p.m. in the 5000 block of Ashford Drive in DeSoto County and was reported driving south on Highway 7, the alert said.

Investigators described Decker as 5-foot-7 and about 140 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. The alert said he was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and black shoes and driving a 2014 red Ford Focus with Mississippi tag DAN 186. Authorities said he could possibly be in or around the Oxford area.

The Silver Alert was issued by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation on behalf of the Horn Lake Police Department. Family members told investigators Decker suffers from a medical condition that may impair his judgment, officials said.

Anyone who sees Decker or has information about his whereabouts is asked to contact the Horn Lake Police Department at 662-393-6174 or call 911. A Silver Alert is a public notification system used to help locate missing seniors who may be at risk; this is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
