Mississippi investigator, son complete NIBRS report-writing training

Mississippi Bureau of Investigation Major Jeffrey Willis and his son, Justus, recently completed National Incident-Based Reporting System report-writing training, the bureau said on Facebook.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is the state agency that assists local law enforcement with major criminal investigations, forensic services and technical training. The bureau said the post highlighted the two completing the training together.

NIBRS, the National Incident-Based Reporting System, is a federal crime-reporting framework that collects detailed, incident-level data. Law enforcement agencies use NIBRS to improve the accuracy and granularity of crime statistics and to support investigations and resource planning.

The bureau did not provide additional details about the training session, its location or timing. The image and brief post underscore ongoing training efforts aimed at maintaining consistent report-writing standards across agencies. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
