Mississippi Department of Public Safety welcomes new staff

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety said on its Facebook page that it welcomed new employees to the agency and looks forward to their work serving the state.

The agency, which is responsible for statewide public safety functions, including law enforcement support, driver services and highway safety programs, said the hires will join its ranks to help carry out those duties.

Adding staff to the department is significant because state public safety agencies rely on trained personnel to respond to emergencies, enforce traffic laws and provide services such as driver licensing and vehicle regulation. New employees typically enter a period of training and orientation before taking on operational responsibilities.
