Minor crash involving school bus delays traffic at Veterans, Eason in Tupelo

Tupelo police responded Tuesday to a minor crash involving a school bus at the intersection of Veterans Boulevard and Eason Boulevard, authorities said.

The Tupelo Police Department said all students on the bus were safe and no injuries were reported among those on board. The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries, the department said, and a secondary bus was dispatched to transport the students from the scene.

School buses are the most common form of student transportation in many communities and agencies typically have procedures to protect students and maintain schedules when incidents occur. Dispatching a replacement bus is a standard response when a bus must be removed from service so students can be transported to their destination without long delays.

Police urged motorists to use caution in the area and expect minor traffic delays while crews work. The brief disruption highlights how even minor collisions can affect morning and afternoon commutes near school routes.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
