MHP donates two patrol SUVs to Jefferson Davis County Sheriff’s Office
JEFFERSON DAVIS COUNTY, Miss. — Jefferson Davis County Sheriff Ron Strickland and the Jefferson Davis County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Mississippi Highway Patrol and Trooper Victor Mays for donating two patrol SUVs to the department, the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
The sheriff’s office said the donated vehicles will help deputies better serve and protect the community. The department thanked the Mississippi Highway Patrol for its continued support of public safety and for assisting fellow law enforcement agencies across the county and state.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is the state law enforcement agency responsible for highway safety, traffic enforcement and support to local police and sheriff’s offices. Donations of equipment and vehicles from state agencies can expand local capacity, allow for more visible patrols and improve response times, officials said.
Sheriff’s officials said partnerships between agencies help strengthen law enforcement efforts in Mississippi. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
