The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is asking residents who sustained damage to their homes during the recent winter weather event to submit reports through its online self-report tool, the agency said in a Facebook post.
Officials said people should complete the online damage report and upload photos of the damage to their home. A video showing how to complete the report is available on MEMA’s report page at https://www.msema.org/report-damage, the agency said.
MEMA said the self-report is not an application for assistance but helps speed up the damage assessment process. The agency said it has already received hundreds of reports and encouraged residents to keep submitting information.
MEMA is the state agency that coordinates disaster preparedness, response and recovery efforts in Mississippi. Collecting damage reports helps state and local officials assess the scope of an event and prioritize resources; it can also inform requests for additional assistance if needed.
