MEMA, Gov. Reeves tour damage from recent winter weather
MEMA officials are traveling with Gov. Tate Reeves to survey damage left by recent winter weather across Mississippi, the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said in a Facebook post Tuesday.
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) coordinates the state’s response to natural disasters, working with local governments, utility crews and federal partners to assess damage, restore services and support recovery efforts. MEMA said the agency’s leaders joined the governor to view affected areas and gather information needed for response planning.
Damage assessments made during such tours help state officials prioritize resources, determine whether additional state or federal aid is needed and communicate safety information to residents. Rapid on-the-ground evaluations can accelerate road and power restoration and inform requests for federal assistance when impacts exceed local capacity.
Details about specific locations, damage levels or relief actions were not included in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
