MEMA delivers blankets, cots while coordinating winter storm response
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said it is working with partners and county emergency management offices across the state to prepare for an upcoming winter storm.
In a Facebook post, the agency said it is supporting counties to ensure they have the resources they need and included a video showing blankets and cots being delivered to Washington County.
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, which coordinates the state’s preparedness and response to disasters, often stages pre-storm deliveries of shelter supplies and equipment to bolster local capacity. Winter storms can bring power outages, slick roads and heating needs that strain local shelters and emergency services.
MEMA urged residents to take care of themselves and their neighbors and to follow guidance from county emergency officials. The agency included the hashtag #staysafemississippi in its post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
