Louisiana DOTD closes lane on I-20 westbound for bridge inspection
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development said it will conduct a bridge inspection Wednesday, March 25, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., resulting in a right lane closure on I-20 westbound near Exit 1A in Vicksburg, the agency said in a Facebook post.
Exit 1A serves the Welcome Center and nearby casinos, the post said. Motorists who use the exit or travel through the area during the inspection should expect lane restrictions.
Bridge inspections are routine safety checks intended to assess structural condition and identify maintenance needs. The Louisiana DOTD is responsible for planning and maintaining the state’s transportation infrastructure, including routine inspections of bridges and roadways to help ensure public safety.
The department urged drivers to use caution, expect delays and allow extra travel time while work is under way, the post said. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
