Lee County warns burn ban remains in effect until April 15, 2026

Lee County officials are reminding residents that a burn ban remains in effect through April 15, 2026, the county said in a Facebook post. The notice urges compliance to reduce fire risk and preserve local firefighting resources.

The Facebook post said Lee County firefighters have responded to approximately 11 fires since the ban was enacted, placing unnecessary strain on departments and personnel. The county did not provide additional details about the individual incidents in the post.

Burn bans are typically issued by local authorities to reduce the chance of wildfires and to conserve emergency response capacity. They generally restrict outdoor burning of debris, yard waste and other materials when conditions increase the risk of fire.

Officials encourage residents to avoid open burning, follow local ordinances and contact county emergency services or local fire departments for guidance on permitted activities. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
