Lawrence County shelter seeks dry dog food donations

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Tennessee — Paws of Love, a Lawrence County animal shelter, said Tuesday it has run out of dry dog food and is asking the community for donations.

The shelter said it still has some wet food cans to feed animals in its care but is completely out of dry kibble. Paws of Love said it will accept any brand of dry dog food and that it especially likes the dry kibble from Rushing Ag LLC. The shelter said even one bag would make a huge difference to the rescue.

Animal shelters commonly rely on donations of food and supplies to feed boarded animals and to stretch limited budgets. Shortages can strain daily operations and increase pressure on staff and volunteers who care for stray, surrendered and foster animals.

Paws of Love urged residents to help care for what it called “forgotten animals” in the community. The shelter did not include specific drop-off times or contact information in its notice. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
