JPD, Capitol Police recover stolen vehicles, arrest two
Jackson Police Department detectives with the Property Crimes/Auto Theft Unit, working with Capitol Police, recovered several stolen vehicles from Murray Auto Sales in the 4600 block of Medgar Evers Boulevard “yesterday afternoon,” the department said in a Facebook post.
Officers arrested 53-year-old Johnny Hilliard and 40-year-old Victor Hobson. Each man was charged with three counts of possession of stolen property, the post said. Hilliard appeared before a municipal court judge and received a $15,000 bond.
The post did not provide bond information for Hobson and said the case remains under investigation. The Jackson Police Department is the primary law enforcement agency for the city and maintains units dedicated to recovering stolen property and combating auto theft.
Recovery of stolen vehicles can help return property to owners and disrupt criminal networks that traffic in stolen cars. This is an ongoing investigation. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
