Jones County authorities seek man for questioning in homicide probe
The Jones County Sheriff’s Department is asking the public to help locate 26-year-old Rodney Jevon Jones for questioning in an ongoing homicide investigation, the department said.
Authorities identified the man as Rodney Jevon Jones and asked anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact JCSD Investigator Thad Windham at 601-817-3606 or Jones County Crime Stoppers at 601-428-STOP (7867), the department said.
Officials have not released additional details about the homicide investigation, including when or where the incident occurred or whether there are any arrests, the sheriff’s office said.
The Jones County Sheriff’s Department is the county’s primary law enforcement agency and investigates violent crimes, including homicides. Jones County Crime Stoppers is a local tip line that community members can use to provide information; many Crime Stoppers programs allow anonymous tips, which can help investigators gather leads while protecting callers’ identities.
The request for public assistance underscores the role that community tips can play in homicide probes. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
