Jackson police seek help identifying copper cable thieves
The Jackson Police Department (JPD) is asking the public to help identify thieves who damaged several thousand dollars’ worth of property while stealing several hundred yards of AT&T copper cable on Woody Drive in south Jackson, JPD said on Facebook.
Photos posted by the department show individuals attaching a rope to utility cable wires, then tying the rope to a silver Ford Expedition and ripping the cables to the ground, JPD said. No arrests were reported in the post.
Anyone with information is asked to contact JPD at 601-960-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS. Crime Stoppers said it needs only information about the case, not personal details, and that tips that lead to an arrest could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,500.
Copper thefts can cause service outages and costly repairs for utilities and customers. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
