Jackson Police praise Sheriff Tyree D. Jones for leadership during transition
The Jackson Police Department thanked Sheriff Tyree D. Jones for his leadership while serving as chief of police during a recent transition, the department said in a Facebook post.
Jones returned to the department where he had dedicated 20 years of service and provided what the department described as steady, hands-on leadership that ensured continuity of operations and kept the department moving forward during the change in leadership.
The post said Jones’ commitment to professionalism and public safety helped guide the department as leadership transitioned to Chief of Police Dr. Rashall M. Brackney. The department expressed gratitude for Jones’ willingness to serve in a dual capacity.
The post also thanked Hinds County for its support in making the transition seamless and said the men and women of the Jackson Police Department appreciate Jones’ leadership, dedication and continued service to the city. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
