Jackson police join Read Across America at Creative Kids Academy
Deputy Chief Tyrone Buckley, Sgt. Suttles and Cpl. Charlotte Patrick visited Creative Kids Academy on Monday to take part in Read Across America, the Jackson Police Department said in a Facebook post.
The post said the officers spent time with “these precious little ones” at the local early childhood education center as part of the literacy event. It did not provide additional details about the visit or activities those in attendance took part in.
Read Across America is an annual literacy initiative organized to promote reading among children and often involves schools, libraries and community groups partnering with volunteers to read aloud and encourage young readers. Police participation in such events is a common community policing practice aimed at building positive relationships between law enforcement and families.
The department’s post highlights ongoing efforts to engage with children outside of law enforcement activities and support education in the community. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
