Jackson police, Hinds County honor women on International Women’s Day

Jackson law enforcement agencies on Monday recognized the contributions of women who serve with “professionalism, strength and dedication,” a Facebook post from the Jackson Police Department said.

The post noted women serve across patrol, investigations, detention, administration and leadership roles at the Jackson Police Department and the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office, and said their work is vital to public safety in Jackson and Hinds County.

It also acknowledged incoming Jackson Police Department chief Dr. RaShall M. Brackney, saying her appointment “reflects the growing impact of women in law enforcement and the importance of strong, capable leadership in our profession.” International Women’s Day is observed annually on March 8 to recognize women’s achievements and advocate for gender equality.

The statement was posted by Jackson Police Chief Tyree D. Jones. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
