Jackson Police Department seeks recruits, certified officers

The Jackson Police Department is recruiting police recruits and certified officers, Chief Tyree D. Jones said in a Facebook post announcing open positions with the city.

The post says the department seeks candidates who are “ready to serve, lead, and make a difference” and who are “called to protect others and committed to professionalism and integrity.” It directs interested applicants to the city of Jackson’s online employment portal for more information and application details.

The JPD is the municipal law enforcement agency for Jackson, Mississippi, responsible for public safety, crime prevention and community policing within the state capital. Recruiting and hiring affect department staffing levels and the agency’s ability to respond to calls and engage with neighborhoods, officials say.

Candidates at the recruit and certified-officer levels are encouraged to review the job posting and submit applications through the city’s employment site. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
