Jackson Police Department conducts first-quarter firearms training

The Jackson Police Department said in a Facebook post that it conducted first-quarter firearms in-service training led by Range Master Herman Tarrio.

The department identified the session as part of its ongoing in-service training program for sworn officers. Firearms in-service training typically focuses on marksmanship, weapons handling, range safety and scenario-based exercises to ensure officers meet departmental standards and legal requirements for use of force.

Range masters oversee training on shooting ranges, enforce safety protocols and evaluate performance. Regular in-service firearms training is a common practice among law enforcement agencies to maintain competency, update officers on policy changes and reinforce safe handling procedures.

The Jackson Police Department did not provide additional details in the initial post, including the date, location or number of officers who participated. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
