Jackson police chief outlines vision at South Jackson meeting

Chief Rashall Brackney met with South Jackson residents this evening at a Precinct 1 COPS meeting, the Jackson Police Department said on Facebook. Community leaders, residents, city officials and other first responders convened to discuss the state of the ASJAN communities, the department said. The meeting came on Brackney’s second official day as chief, according to the post.

Brackney articulated her vision for the Jackson Police Department and outlined a strategy to identify and secure funding to build a robust, resilient and sustainable police force, the department said. She emphasized community engagement, accountability and transparency as central elements of her leadership approach.

Community meetings such as the Precinct 1 COPS session are commonly used by police and local leaders to share priorities, gather public input and coordinate responses to public safety concerns. Officials and first responders often use these gatherings to discuss resource needs and partnership opportunities, the department said.

The Jackson Police Department posted photos of the meeting on its Facebook page. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
