Jackson police chief keynotes CIT Academy graduation
Chief Rashall Brackney served as keynote speaker at the Jackson Police Department’s CIT Academy graduation ceremony, the department said in a Facebook post. Mayor John Horhn addressed the graduates and their families and commended them for their service, the post said.
Among those listed as graduates were Terrinesheya Dampeer, Capt. Warren Hull Jr., Cpl. Mary James and Andrea Lacy, according to the department. Members of the department’s executive command staff also attended to support the graduates, the post said.
Crisis Intervention Team, or CIT, training typically focuses on equipping law enforcement officers with skills to safely and effectively respond to people experiencing mental health crises, de-escalate tense encounters and connect individuals to appropriate community resources. Agencies nationwide use CIT programs to improve officer safety and community outcomes.
The Jackson Police Department did not provide additional details in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
