Jackson honors women in law enforcement on International Women’s Day

On International Women’s Day, the Jackson Police Department and the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office recognized the women who serve the community with professionalism, strength and dedication, Chief Tyree D. Jones said in a Facebook post.

The post said women serve across patrol, investigations, detention, administration and leadership roles and play a vital role in serving and protecting the citizens of Jackson and Hinds County.

Chief Dr. RaShall M. Brackney was also recognized in the post as the incoming chief of the Jackson Police Department, with Jones saying her leadership reflects the growing impact of women in law enforcement and the importance of strong, capable leadership in the profession.

International Women’s Day, observed each year on March 8, highlights the contributions of women across occupations and communities. The statement was posted on the department’s Facebook page by Jones. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
