Hinds County Sheriff’s Office unveils monument honoring fallen deputies
The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office said it will unveil a Fallen Deputies & Jailers Monument at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 2026, at its headquarters at 407 E. Pascagoula Street in Jackson.
The ceremony will honor the lives, service and sacrifice of deputies and jailers who gave their lives in the line of duty while serving the citizens of Hinds County, the office said in a Facebook post. The event is free and open to the public, and the sheriff’s office encouraged community members to attend as it gathers with families of the fallen and public safety partners.
Officials warned of a temporary traffic closure related to the ceremony. Tombigbee Street will be closed from 7 a.m. until approximately 11 a.m. at the intersections of State Street and Tombigbee Street, Congress Street and Tombigbee Street, and President Street and Tombigbee Street, the post said.
The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office is the primary law enforcement agency serving Hinds County, which includes the city of Jackson. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
