Hinds County Sheriff unveils monument honoring fallen deputies
The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office will unveil a Fallen Deputies & Jailers Monument on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at its headquarters at 407 E. Pascagoula Street in Jackson, Mississippi, the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.
The ceremony will honor the lives, service and sacrifice of deputies and jailers who gave their lives in the line of duty while serving citizens of Hinds County, the post said. The monument is intended to stand as a lasting tribute to their courage, dedication and commitment to protecting the community. The event is free and open to the public.
The sheriff’s office said the ceremony will bring together families of the fallen and public safety partners. Community members are encouraged to attend.
Traffic advisory: Tombigbee Street will be temporarily closed from 7:00 a.m. until approximately 11:00 a.m. at the intersections with State Street, Congress Street and President Street, the office said.
Monuments honoring law enforcement personnel are commonly used to commemorate those who died in the line of duty and provide a focal point for community remembrance. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
