Hinds County first responders meet at EOC ahead of predicted winter storm

First responders from across Hinds County met at the Hinds County Emergency Operations Center to discuss emergency plans for a winter storm predicted to move across the county this weekend, the Jackson Police Department said in a post on its Facebook page.

The Jackson Police Department posted that the meeting brought together multiple agencies to coordinate response efforts and preparedness. The Emergency Operations Center, commonly called the EOC, serves as a central command point for managing resources and communication during incidents that affect public safety.

Winter storms can create hazardous road conditions, power outages and other threats to public safety, so coordination among police, fire, emergency medical services and public works is critical. Emergency managers typically focus on rapid response, clearing roadways, restoring utilities and supporting vulnerable residents.

The Jackson Police Department included the message, “Your safety is our priority!” in its social post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
