Hinds County deputies celebrate Read Across America at Gary Road Elementary

The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that its School Resource Officers spent the day celebrating Read Across America with students at Gary Road Elementary, sharing stories and encouraging literacy.

The post said deputies connected with students in a positive, meaningful way and that the agency is proud of its SROs for investing in children and helping inspire a lifelong love of reading across Hinds County.

The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office is the primary law enforcement agency serving Hinds County, Mississippi. School Resource Officers are sworn officers assigned to schools who aim to ensure safety while building relationships with students and staff.

Read Across America is a national reading awareness initiative that promotes literacy and school engagement.
