Several streets in and around downtown Hattiesburg will be closed or impacted Saturday, April 11, for the Hattiesburg Half Marathon, organizers said in a Facebook post. Motorists were urged to use alternate routes and expect delays during the morning hours.
Forrest Street between Front and Pine streets is closed now and will remain closed until 1 p.m. Saturday. Main Street between McLeod and Front streets will be closed from 6:45–7:45 a.m. Hardy Street between McLeod Street and West Pine Street will be closed from 7 a.m.–1 p.m.
West Pine Street between Hardy Street and Hall Avenue will be closed from 7 a.m. until approximately 10 a.m., or until runners clear the area. Hall Avenue between West Pine Street and the roundabout near the Public Safety Complex will be closed from 7:15 a.m. until approximately 9:30 a.m. All runners will be off the racecourse by 11 a.m.
Runners will also travel through the Avenues, cross Hardy Street at 21st Avenue, continue through the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi and use portions of the Longleaf Trace. Officials asked drivers to remain alert, follow traffic control devices and directions from law enforcement, and be mindful of runners throughout the course. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
