Hal’s St. Paddy’s krewes bring parade to Children’s of Mississippi patients

JACKSON — Patients at Children’s of Mississippi received a parade-sized celebration this week when krewes from Hal’s St. Paddy’s Parade & Festival brought mini floats and festive throws to the hospital, organizers said.

Organizers said the visit tied one of Jackson’s most beloved spring traditions directly to the children and families the event supports. They describe Hal’s St. Paddy’s Parade as a “green Mardi Gras,” a longtime downtown celebration known for colorful floats and community spirit.

This year’s main parade is set for noon Saturday, March 28, in downtown Jackson, organizers said. Festival events also include pet and children’s parades at Smith Park as part of a larger weekend celebration that has become a signature event for the capital city.

For the young patients who got an early visit, the parade arrived in a smaller form but brought clear moments of joy, organizers said. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
