Gulfport police post Valentine’s Day warning on social media

The Gulfport Police Department warned in a Facebook post ahead of Valentine’s Day that some dates can lead to permanent records, using humor to remind people about possible legal consequences.

In the post, the department wrote, “Gulfport Police Department never fails us,” and urged readers to “find you a woman that holds your arm, walks with you, and drives you downtown…and instead of ghosting you, she fingerprints you, photographs you, and adds you to a database that never forgets anniversaries.” The message included hashtags such as #ValentinesDay, #CaughtFeelingsAndCharges and #LoveLanguageIsMiranda.

Police and other public agencies commonly use social media to engage the community, provide safety reminders and add a local touch to public outreach. The post blends humor with a cautionary note about arrests, processing and the creation of law enforcement records.

The message underscores how informal online communications can serve as both entertainment and a reminder of legal risks around arrests. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
