Gulfport police post satirical Driver Essentials Package on Facebook

The Gulfport Police Department posted on its Facebook page a satirical “Gulfport PD Driver Essentials Package™” offering mock traffic items and urging safe driving.

The post lists items including “Blinker Fluid (GPD Certified),” a “Left Lane Camping Permit” and a “Horn Refill Kit,” and includes a line that reads, “Due to ongoing supply chain issues, blinker fluid is now being rationed. Please signal responsibly.” The department wrapped the post in humor, noting that the items meet Gulfport PD quality standards “or at least we printed a label that says they do.”

The message also said supplies are “extremely limited (and by limited, we mean nonexistent)” and closed with reminders to “Drive safe. Use your signals” and a corrective note that “if it sounds ridiculous on the internet, it probably is.” The post included the hashtag #AprilFools.

Local law enforcement agencies often use social media to deliver safety messages and engage the community. The Gulfport post combined humor with a reminder about signaling and courtesy on the road. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
