Gulfport Police Department offers free summer camps

Gulfport Police Department said on Facebook that it is offering free summer camps focused on golf and fishing, encouraging residents to register as spots fill up.

The department posted that there are “no green fees” and “no bait and switch,” and described the programs as opportunities to “reel, pure fun.” The post included promotional language urging people to “cast your spot today” and used the hashtags #GulfportProud, #SummerFun and #FreeCamps.

The announcement is part of a broader trend in which police departments run community outreach and youth programs to build relationships, provide supervised recreational activities and offer skills-based instruction. Such programs can give young people constructive summer options and allow officers to engage with residents outside of enforcement duties.

Details about eligibility, registration, dates and locations were not provided in the Facebook post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
