Fulton man arrested after deputies find meth, gun during traffic stop
FULTON, Mississippi — An Itawamba County man was arrested Feb. 18 after deputies said they found a felony amount of methamphetamine and a firearm during a traffic stop on Highway 178.
Deputies with the Itawamba County Sheriff’s Department stopped a vehicle in Fulton and identified the driver as Jerrick Scott Keys of Fulton, authorities said. During the stop, deputies located what they described as a felonious amount of methamphetamine and a firearm inside the vehicle.
An agent with the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit responded and assisted with a search, during which officials said they found an additional bag of methamphetamine. Deputies said they observed more methamphetamine on the floorboard where Keys had been seated as he exited the patrol vehicle. While Keys was being processed into the Itawamba County Jail, detention staff found a metal container on his person that contained methamphetamine.
Keys was taken into custody and charged with possession of a felony amount of methamphetamine, enhanced with a firearm, and tampering with evidence, authorities said. His bond was set at $60,000.
The North Mississippi Narcotics Unit is a regional law enforcement task force that assists local agencies with drug investigations. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
