Facebook post warns residents to stay home amid countywide outages

A Facebook post warned residents to stay home if at all possible after reporting widespread power outages across the county and dangerous travel conditions.

The post said trees and power lines are down throughout the city, creating hazards on roadways and making travel unsafe. It urged people to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary trips until conditions improve.

Downed power lines can remain energized and pose a risk of electrocution, and fallen trees can block streets and damage vehicles and infrastructure. Utility crews and emergency responders typically work to clear hazards and restore service as conditions allow, but restoration can take time depending on the extent of damage.

Residents are advised to avoid downed lines, drive with caution if travel is unavoidable, and check on neighbors, particularly older adults or those with medical needs. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
