Facebook post urges residents to report downed trees, icy roads
A Facebook post said residents should call 662-746-0014 to report trees down in the road or icy roads and bridges so officials can work to prevent accidents. The post said ice has started to accumulate and that branches and trees are falling, causing power outages in some areas.
The post warned residents not to run generators or kerosene heaters inside their homes, saying fumes can build up and could cause serious bodily harm or death. It urged people to limit travel and to stay warm during the conditions.
Downed trees, iced bridges and power outages can create hazardous travel conditions and delay emergency response. Winter storms and freezing rain commonly cause ice buildup on trees and power lines, increasing the risk of falling limbs and outages.
Residents who see a hazard are asked to call 662-746-0014 to report it. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
