Driver dies after vehicle strikes power pole on Terry Road
JACKSON — A driver died after their vehicle struck a power pole on Terry Road Monday night around 5:09 p.m., Capitol Police said.
Officers responding to a one-vehicle crash found a power pole had been struck and power lines lying across Terry Road, the agency said. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Capitol Police said energy crews are working to repair the downed power lines. Downed lines can present hazards to motorists and first responders and can lead to localized power outages; utility crews typically secure the area before beginning repairs.
The crash remains under investigation by Capitol Police. The incident underscores risks posed by collisions with utility infrastructure and may affect traffic and nearby residents while repairs are completed. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
