Dr. Brackney visits Precinct 4 ahead of confirmation hearing
Dr. Brackney visited Precinct 4 this afternoon prior to her confirmation hearing at City Hall, a social media post shows.
A video posted on Facebook shows Brackney meeting with officers and fielding questions about policing and departmental priorities. The post says officers asked plenty of questions about her vision for JPD’s future.
Precinct visits are often part of the vetting process for candidates for leadership posts in municipal police departments, giving rank-and-file officers a chance to evaluate a nominee’s plans and priorities. A confirmation hearing at City Hall is typically the next step in deciding whether a candidate will be approved for the position.
Little additional detail was provided in the post. JPD was referenced in the video as the department Brackney would help lead if confirmed. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
