Deputies arrest two after Forrest County pursuit

FORREST COUNTY, Mississippi — Deputies in Forrest County arrested two people after a vehicle pursuit Tuesday evening, the Forrest County Sheriffs Office said.

Sheriffs deputies attempted to stop a vehicle about 6 p.m. March 3 after suspecting it was involved in criminal activity, the sheriffs office said. The driver refused to stop and fled, prompting a pursuit.

With assistance from the Lamar County Sheriffs Office and the Hattiesburg Police Department, deputies stopped the vehicle and took the occupants into custody without incident, the sheriffs office said. The driver, Shaquille Catrell Adams, was arrested and charged with felony eluding law enforcement, possession of a controlled substance and reckless driving, the sheriffs office said. A passenger, Tearra Gray, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct for failure to comply with law enforcement commands. Both were transported to the Forrest County Jail.

Sheriffs officials said Adams has multiple prior felony arrests and is currently on probation with the Mississippi Department of Corrections. The sheriffs office said the Mississippi Department of Corrections has been notified and that a probation revocation may be pursued. The investigation remains ongoing, and the sheriffs office thanked assisting agencies for their help.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
